Wilson Deer Camp 2021

Deer Camp, a tradition shared amongst hunters. It is where those who enjoy the sport get together in celebration and excitement. The most fun deer camps come the evening before opening day. The cool weather, togetherness, and excitement for the weekend ahead is what brings us all as one.

Wilson's Deer Camp is no exception. This celebration is put on by Steve Wilson, a lifelong family friend. On Friday November 12th, 40 hunters gathered in excitement for the season. For my first time attending, I did not know what to expect. However, I learned quickly. The atmosphere was welcoming, exciting, and eager. The people, coming from all different groups, spoke to one another as if they were long-time friends. Sharing stories and pictures and advice. The crisp fall air was filled with noise of people laughing. The ever-growing bonfire kept everyone warm as the sun went down and the moon came up. The buffet of food invited people inside the old barn. There was an array of every meat one could ever want. No one should have left hungry.

However, I did leave with something, a grown passion. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to meet with others who share your same/similar passion. Everyone there at the Wilson's Deer Camp had the same passion, hunting. Everyone there was eager to get out in a tree the next morning, eager to see what they will encounter, eager to see what others will achieve.

Expanding the hunting community and the passions of those involved is an important thing, and that is what the 2021 Wilson's Deer Camp is all about.
